But if you took time to learn about how those brackets are assembled, youd think ... well, youd still think theyre messed up, but at least youd understand why theyre messed up.

The 97th annual boys basketball State Tournament tips off this morning - the 41st at the Charleston Civic Center, if you're counting - and one thing about the atmosphere remains recently consistent and disturbing. NCAA Tournament Chairman Gene Smith spent the entire weekend fearful that it would be a challenge bracketing conferences with multiple teams especially the massive 16-team Big East.
