  • Move America Forward also acts as a proud clearinghouse for myriad other anti-Moore sites, of which there are many. Stealing a riff from Moore's recent best-seller, Moorelies.com poetically declares that "[Michael Moore] is a big fat stupid white man." That's also the title of a book the site is producing to stop Moore's "anti-American" actions. Moore Watch claims to spy on "Michael Moore's every move," but c'mon -- that's simply not possible. Even though it states that Moore is "a disingenuous danger to this country," Moore Watch has very little to offer other than blog entries aiming to undermine the filmmaker. The best they come up with, however, is to refer to him with the diminutive "Mikey. [Michael Wilson] is actually likeable, in an icky, America-fight-or-flight kind of way. In ...

  • Perusing press clippings of post-weekend reviews, we find quotes from all sorts of people such as Thom Stanly, age 39, who said on Sunday in Fairfax, Canada, "I've been waiting for this moment for 27 years." Of course, you can't help but think that three years ago, Stanly probably said, "I've been waiting for this moment for 24 years," while waiting in line to see Star Wars: Episode II--Attack of the Clones. What is ironic is that Star Wars, a movie franchise that has been around for 27 years, has been the source for many of the ideas and metaphors used in politics today. Take, for instance, Reagan's "Star Wars" missile defense system. Then there's the Senate handing over power to the leader who aspires to be emperor. Then there's John McCain comparing himself to Luke Skywalker during h...

  • THE LATE BOB HOPE'S ROLE AS THE NATION'S wartime entertainer in chief has not been officially filled even as many show-business luminaries have gone to Iraq to entertain the troops. Perhaps, however, the name most worth pausing over in that effort is Robin Williams. He has headed a holiday-season tour by a USO troop. In some ways, Mr. Williams is decidedly not Mr. Hope. He's raunchier, of course. But that's not the main way. He is very much on the left of the American political spectrum, and very much against this war. Mr. Hope, a product of the World War II-era, was, for a long time, anyway, a strong supporter of the Vietnam War. His animosity toward the radical left of that time was palpable.

...Williams is not the only Hollywood dove to do USO service. Radio commentator/ writer/...; but the troops in Iraq haven't been boycotting the anti-war, anti-Bush Robin Williams. The tolera...
