When the time comes that I'm down to my last breath and am fast- forwarding through the mental images of my life, there are two places that will make me hit the pause button and smile. One is the Florida Keys, a trip I was fortunate to take in January; the other is Lac La Croix, a border lake in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. The last time I went, it was just the BWCA, but some stuffed shirt decided to add the wilderness tag, needless and redundant.

• Boundary Waters Big On Smallmouth

NORMAL - The Rev. Tim Schrag of Normal Mennonite Church was blessed with dandy smallmouth bass when he traveled to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness near Ely, Minn., over the Memorial Day holiday with his son, Andy. They were accompanied by friends Steve Stenger and his son, Brian, and joined by an old seminary friend, the Rev. Tim Lehman, who lives in Ohio and guides at BWCAW as a pastime.
