Hi, Carolyn:
When my roommate and I agreed to live together, we decided that boyfriends were allowed to stay overnight, but that third-roommate type conditions would not be permitted. Now I want to know what the definition of a third-roommate is.

If the Mental Health Parity Bill, H.R. 1424, passes the U.S. Senate as it did on March 5 in the House of Representatives^ insurers . may by required to cover treatment for "Internet addiction"-the newest proposed "mental disorder" for inclusion in psychiatry's billing bible, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM). H.R. 1424 would effectively mandate insurance coverage of a broad range of subjective and scientifically unsound mental disorders found in the DSM, such as "spelling disorder," "nicotine use or withdrawal," "mathematics disorder," "oppositional defiant disorder" and "sibling rivalry disorder.
The "symptoms" he lists-including "excessive use" of computers, the need for better equipment, more software or more hours of use-are as equally absurd as the ch...

The Big Read is the single largest federal literature project since the Works Progress Administration, Franklin Roosevelt's massive New Deal stimulus package. It was a time when [John Steinbeck]'s literary star was on the rise, fueled by the popularity of works like The Grapes of Wrath, while [Robinson Jeffers] was falling out of favor for his views on "evil works of his fellow man." In fact, Jeffers nearly disappeared from the American canon in the '30s and '40s, partly because of his opposition to the coming World War II (he had also opposed World War I). Steinbeck too was famously linked to politically risky sentiments, but the Pulitzer Prize-winning author didn't recede from the national consciousness the same way Jeffers did.
We have taken an ungodly toll on our landscape. Jeffers ...

Several of the pieces at West Martello are like that. "It's not one thing. But it's part of the environment," [Karley Klopfenstein] says of these kinds of works.
Throughout West Martello, the artists are pushing the definition of sculpture beyond its old boundaries. The sound installation, by Diana Shpungin, is titled "Sounds of Love and War," and, like [Lauren McAloon]'s work, is site specific.
Lori Warren's piece titled "For Garrison" is meant to be interactive. It consists of white satin ribbons tied to the fence along the fort's ocean front.

We, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service), recognize the recent change to the taxonomy of the currently endangered plant taxon, Monardella linoides ssp. viminea, in which the subspecies was split into two distinct full species, Monardella viminea (willowy monardella) and Monardella stoneana (Jennifer's monardella). Because the original subspecies, Monardella linoides ssp. viminea, was listed as endangered under the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended (Act), we reviewed and updated the threats analysis that we completed for the taxon in 1998, when it was listed as a subspecies. We also reviewed the status of the new species, Monardella stoneana. We retain the listing status of Monardella viminea as endangered, and we remove protections afforded by the Act from those individ...

HURRICANE, Washington County -- A study on the Hurricane Fault in eastern Washington County will help cities and developers evaluate the seismic risk of building within the fault's boundaries, according to a senior scientist with the Utah Geological Survey.
By anybody's definition, this is an active fault," said William Lund, a senior scientist with the UGS in its Cedar City field office and one of several geologists who worked on the Hurricane Fault study. "We have a pretty good idea of how big the last earthquake was, and a rough sense of when the last one was, but what we really don't know is how often quakes occur (on the Hurricane Fault).

Accountants, who do tax and auditing services, are faced with the question of whether they are illegally practising law. Accountant services, which include advice in retirement plans, stock-option plans, appraisals and financial planning, deal with legal matters that are not included in the definition of practice of law. Attorneys are aslo confused with the boundaries of the practice of law since states have not defined them.
