SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - A dozen students became sick after drinking bottled water from a vending machine at a Southern California junior high school, authorities said.
The students at La Mesa Junior High School in Santa Clarita complained Thursday of headaches, nausea and dizziness after drinking Aquafina water from a vending machine that appeared to contain a "bleach-like substance," said Los Angeles County fire inspector Steve Zermeno.

BARSTOW - The water agency overseeing the cleanup of Hinkley's contaminated groundwater later this month will issue orders for Pacific Gas & Electric Co. to begin providing whole house water to residents whose water supply has significant levels of chromium 6, also known as hexavalent chrome.
PG&E provides bottled water to replace tap water for drinking purposes at about 80 locations, including residences, a school and a senior center.

OXFORD - Harrison Elementary School students are continuing to drink bottled water for the sixth week as officials continue to try to find and treat the source of coliform bacteria discovered in the school well.
Facilities Director Dave Marshall told the Oxford Hills School District Board of Directors at its Monday meeting that the Harrison school's 400-foot deep well was shocked with chlorine Friday and will be retested Wednesday if the chlorine residues are at a low enough level.
