The Lakers were seriously out of sync during Game 7 of the NBA Finals last June 17 at Staples Center. They trailed the Boston Celtics by 13 points in the third quarter before rallying aggressively to make a game of it going into the fourth.
But they could not get ahead of the Celtics and stay there as the minutes passed in agonizing fashion. The more the Lakers struggled, the deeper they seemed to sink into a funk, and the tension rose to a crescendo inside the overheated arena.
