  • BERGENFIELD -- After years of uncertainty, the Borough Council could finally decide to move ahead with designing a community center in Memorial Park, or it could scrap the project altogether. Council President Christopher Tully said the body plans to vote on the issue next month.

  • BERGENFIELD Residents hoping to party at Cooper's Pond or Memorial Park must now produce insurance. The new borough regulation requires residents to show proof of homeowner's or renter's insurance when they apply for permits to hold a picnic, party or other group event on public land. It also requires residents to sign an agreement freeing the borough of liability for any accidents during the event.

  • BERGENFIELD -- The divide between two factions of the Democratic Party in this borough of 26,000 people is as wide as ever as the June 8 primary approaches. Both the Bergenfield Democratic Municipal Committee and the Real Bergenfield Democrats, backed by Mayor Timothy Driscoll, requested the party line as the first choice for their candidates.

  • A Vietnam veteran who was fired from his job as Bergen County's director of veteran affairs in January plans to sue the county over his dismissal, according to legal documents obtained Thursday by The Record. Kevin Clancy, a former Bergenfield mayor and past chairman of the borough's Democratic municipal committee, contends that he was fired from his county post for political reasons after Republican County Executive Kathleen Donovan defeated Democrat Dennis McNerney in November's election.
