IN addition to the many needs of its students and teachers, the Boone County Board of Education now has an unrelated financial problem. Sadly, it was reported in the media that the Board was about to receive a bill for $169,000 for methamphetamine cleanup at the Boone County Career and Technical Center. With the number of meth lab busts around the state climbing even as federal funding for cleanups has dried up, it's obvious that this event is just the tip of the iceberg of the methamphetamine problem in West Virginia.
It is now well-recognized that cold medicines with pseudoephedrine (PSE) provide a ready chemical source for the illicit production of methamphetamine by someone acting alone.
