William W. (Bill) Burnett, 82, of Ferrum, died on Tuesday, August 23, 2011, at his home. He was born on January 10, 1929, to the late Stanton Luther and Cova Ross Burnett. He was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Larry M. Prillaman; two brothers, Charlie and Bob Burnett; and a sister, Ileta Burnett Nolen.
Mr. Burnett retired as President and CEO of The First National Bank of Ferrum after 43 years of service and he served on the Board of Directors for the Bank, Ferrum Lions Club, Ferrum Volunteer Fire Department and Ferrum Water and Sewage Plant for many years. He was well known in the county and was a gentle spirited man who was respected and admired by all who knew him, a man who loved his family, and always put others needs before his own. He cherished his grandchild...

Grammy-winning producer T-Bone Burnett made his name as a member of Bob Dylan's Rolling Thunder Revue tour back in 1975, so there's poetic justice in him having a hand in Jakob Dylan's success.
He produced "Bringing Down the Horse," the breakout album by Jakob's band The Wallflowers, in 1996. And now, the singer- songwriter, on hiatus with the Wallflowers, has turned to him again for his second solo album, "Women + Country.

In 1950, [Soupy Sales] moved to Cincinnati and chose television as his new livelihood. The show would be called "Soupy's Soda Shop" that would eventually become America's first teenage dance program on television. This would lead to another show called "Club Nothing," a 45-minute talk show spiced with Soupy's zany comedy routines, guests and music.
Soupy Sales moved to the West Coast in 1960 and by the following year, his "Soupy Sales Show" was L.A.'s number-one show, pulling in more fan mail than all of ABC-TV's network shows combined. His initial Friday night show will long be remembered for the quality of the stars it attracted and the shows with Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr. getting pies thrown in their faces.
