The Freddie Fixer Parade Committee is embarking on a new type of clean-up: records of those with felony and misdemeanor criminal convictions.
Through a $3,000 grant from the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, parade committee President Maurice Smith, a paralegal, will assist those who qualify for pardons in filling out the applications and giving direction on necessary steps. Smith said he hopes to be able to help 75 offenders and he sees it as being in the spirit of the vision of parade and clean-up day founder Dr. Fred Smith.
