WASHINGTON, Feb. 9 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the United Kingdom's Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) announced today the execution of two contract modifications providing for DOE's accelerated purchase of the Advanced Mixed Waste Treatment Project (AMWTP) located at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) and the resolution of contract claims associated with work conducted by BNFL at the AMWTP site and the East Tennessee Technology Park (ETTP) in Tennessee. BNFL, a commercial firm that is wholly-owned by the British government, constructed the AMWTP under a fixed-price contract awarded in 1996. BNFL has been decontaminating and decommissioning three buildings at the ETTP under a fixed-price contract awarded in 1997.

Utah-based EnergySolutions will acquire Reactor Sites Management Co. Ltd. from British Nuclear Fuels (BNFL), the holding company for British Nuclear Group and Nexia Solutions, according to EnergySolutions officials. EnergySolutions declined to disclose the financial terms of the deal.
