Scope of services needed shall include, but is not limited to the following: Hauling Dirt & Stone; Construction Surveying; Asphalt Pavement Replacement; Asphalt Pavement Overlay; Geotechnical Testing; Sanitary Sewer Manhole Rehabilitation; Sanitary Sewerline Rehabilitation using CIPP methods; and the Supply of Materials. A vision of cobia, a warm-water game fish, becoming a popular choice at restaurants and supermarkets is driving a $30 million aquaculture investment by a local biotech company and its Virginia partner.
MariCal Inc. of Portland is teaming up with Blue Ridge Aquaculture Inc. to launch Virginia Cobia Farms LLC. The joint venture will use MariCal's proprietary technology to raise cobia at a $600,000 pilot plant in Saltville, Va.

Kroger's Mid-Atlantic division is ramping up its efforts to sell produce grown by local farmers.
In the Alleghany Highlands and the Roanoke and New River valleys, customers can buy produce grown by Layman Family Farms of Blue Ridge and Fincastle. Farmer Eric Layman said he has been selling peaches, summer squash and zucchini to Kroger and may provide tomatoes, peppers, eggplant and fall apples when they are in season.

HEYWORTH - A proposed wind farm in southern McLean and northern DeWitt Counties is two to three years away from construction, but a spokesman for the developer said the company has high hopes for it.
Duane Enger, development manager for Lenexa, Kan.-based TradeWind Energy, outlined plans for the Alta Farms I Wind Project to members of the Heyworth, Clinton, LeRoy and Blue Ridge school boards Monday at Heyworth High School.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - A quickly growing county outside Washington, D.C., has been named the best place to live in rural America by a farming magazine, but the distinction may not last for long.
In its February issue, the Progressive Farmer magazine named Fauquier County, Va., the best rural place to live based on its fertile farms, wineries and close proximity to the Blue Ridge Mountains.
