LAS VEGAS, Jan. 20, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Executives from America's leading conservation, sportsmen's and hunting organizations have announced the formation of a new multi- organization coalition to remove bans and restrictions on Sunday hunting. Currently 11 states (Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia) have such restrictions or prohibitions that date back to "blue laws" enacted in the 1700s. By removing bans and restrictions to Sunday hunting, we will be continuing a larger effort that involves improving access and opportunity for all American hunters," said National Shooting Sports Foundation Senior Vice President and General Counsel Lawrence G. Keane. "Let's not forget, ...

We, the Fish and Wildlife Service (Service), are listing the Miami blue butterfly (Cyclargus thomasi bethunebakeri), as endangered under the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended (Act). We have determined that designation of critical habitat for the Miami blue butterfly is not prudent at this time. We also are listing the cassius blue butterfly (Leptotes cassius theonus), ceraunus blue butterfly (Hemiargus ceraunus antibubastus), and nickerbean blue butterfly (Cyclargus ammon) as threatened due to similarity of appearance to the Miami blue in coastal south and central Florida, and establishing a special rule under section 4(d) of the Act for these three species.

At the time, many of us warriors for the universal principle privately discussed "the state-by-state guerilla warfare approach" to achieving our goals. This state-by-state approach presupposed that, as in the historical development of Canadian Medicare, universal coverage by whatever legal means would probably build on existing structures of health care delivery in each individual state, with the smaller more homogenous states like Vermont and Wyoming, with fewer choices of providers and institutions, leading the way. The 2000 selection of George W. Bush closed off hope for federal initiatives to expand coverage, and White House attempts to privatize what exists of health care safety networks, reaching its apex in the Medicare Part D drug plan, set health reform back years. The present paper subjects unions to a libertarian analysis and finds this organizational structure highly problematic from the perspective of the criminal law. Libertarianism is defined as that philosophy which opposes the initiation, or the threat thereof, of violence against non-aggressing people. Unions are characterized as groups which although need not in principle act contrary to this stricture, as a matter of fact always and ever do so. Hence, organized labor, as presently constituted, cannot be reconciled with libertarian principles of non-aggression. They are thus, in effect, criminal gangs and should be seen and treated as such.

BOSTON - Despite Puritan-era laws that prohibit most stores in Massachusetts from doing business on Thanksgiving, lines were 30- shoppers long at 10 p.m. inside a CompUSA Inc. outlet in the Brighton neighborhood. The national computer retailer and a small chain of Asian supermarkets opened their doors Thursday to customers in Boston and other communities seemingly in defiance of the state's blue laws.
