Certain heart disease risk factors are more prevalent in Black Americans, but many of these risk factors can be controlled through lifestyle changes," says Dr. Augustine E. Agocha, lead physician at Advanced Heart, Lung and Vascular Care Center in Bordentown, N.J.
"It is important for those with any risks for heart disease to be screened extensively and visit their doctors on a regular basis," said Dr. Agocha. "Early detection can be the difference between life and death."
