College student loan debt is continuing to rise, climbing an average 6 percent nationally in the last year, and now exceeds outstanding credit card debt in the U.S.
The Project on Student Debt, a nonprofit research institute, found the average loan balance for bachelor degree recipients in 2009 was $24,000, according the newest data. Ohioans' average balance was $25,840, the 10th highest nationally.

When managed responsibly, credit cards are both useful and convenient for millions of consumers on a daily basis. However, according to the Federal Reserve, outstanding U.S. consumer credit card debt was at nearly $1 trillion by the close of 2006.
Moreover, the Better Business Bureau system logged more than 6,700 complaints last year about credit cards and the various plans marketed to consumers.
