Earlier this year there was a bill that would have replaced our bicameral Legislature with a single body. The idea was to make the legislative process more efficient.
Now we know why more efficient is not necessarily better and why passing that bill would have been a bad idea.

There is also the doctrine of checks and balances with a bicameral legislature, a three-tiered judicial system and an impeachment process for both the judicial and executive branches of government. D. Hirsch's dilettante's bible is perfect bathroom reading by design. Each entry is short and essentialized, so each session with the book can be as long or as short as you need it to be. Plus, if copies of Cultural Literacy littered bathrooms around the city, think of all the edifying small talk we could have after bathroom breaks. At the Stagecoach Inn, meeting the in-laws for the first time? Excuse yourself to the men's or ladies' room to freshen up after appetizers and take a moment to bone up on "bicameral legislature" and "Zeno's paradox," just in case. Colorful ethnic dancing and music naturally will be prominent elements of the Lira Ensemble of Chicago's celebration of Polish Constitution Day on Sunday afternoon at Heinz Hall.
The event also emphasizes ties between Poland and America. It could hardly be otherwise. The Polish Constitution being celebrated was adopted on May 3, 1791, and was inspired by the Constitution of the United States -- with which it shares a division of power between executive, judicial and legislative branches, including a bicameral legislature.

[...] the intermediate service colleges do not uniformly teach the concept of grand strategy. [...] classical scholars are still debating whether Rome and ancient China really had grand strategies understood as such by their ruling elites.5 There have been a surprising number of recent books on the topic of grand strategy in the United States, but one suspects that the audiences reading them are limited.6 There is also the issue of strategic culture, a sometimes nefarious term with many definitions.

Q: Is there anything the Ohio General Assembly has done over the past six months that you would change if you could? What would it be and why (briefly)?
Senate President Bill Harris, R-Ashland -- "Overall, I am very satisfied with the progress we have made over the past six months to make Ohio more competitive for attracting new jobs, to provide more opportunities for workforce development from elementary school through college and beyond, as well with our work on many other policy initiatives. Are there things I would have changed or done differently? Yes, but that is all part of working in a bicameral, bipartisan legislature and making policy based on the differing views of those who represent constituents with diverse needs and desires. We have much more work to do and I look forward...
