CHESTERFIELD - Santa Claus is coming to town in Chesterfield County, but instead of riding in a sleigh, he'll be touching down in an airplane. And instead of elves to lend him a hand, Santa has a more unique little helper. For five years now, Betty Vinson, a 5-foot-tall senior citizen and pilot from Prince George County has organized a toy airlift with The Virginia Chapter of Ninety-Nines.
NEW YORK -- An accounting executive who made some fraudulent entries in the books at WorldCom was sentenced Friday to five months in prison and five months of house arrest. Betty Vinson, 49, who said she was pressured by superiors to make the false entries, had hoped to avoid prison time because she cooperated with the government in its prosecution of ex-CEO Bernard Ebbers.

CHESTERFIELD - The Virginia Chapter Ninety-Nines, an international organization of women pilots who meet frequently throughout the year at the Chesterfield County Airport, 7511 Airfield Drive, will be at the airport on Saturday to receive gifts of toys and other donated items from pilots who will be flying the items in to the airport. The Ninety-Nines are collecting donations of new and unwrapped toys for children and new and unwrapped clothes for hospitalized veterans. Gift cards will also be accepted for donation.
