YAKIMA, Wash. -- The Greater Yakima Valley Veterans Coalition will hold a veterans benefits fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Washington Army National Guard Armory at 2501 Airport Lane in Yakima. The fair, in its sixth year, features a variety of agencies including WorkSource Yakima, the Yakima County Veterans Program and Yakima Valley Community College.

There will be a lot of activity at Colorado College Saturday May 7 as the Japan America Society of Southern Colorado presents the 2011 Children's Day Festival to benefit the Japanese Red Cross Society. A donation is requested for the event, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Colorado College Gates Common Room in Palmer Hall, 1025 N. Cascade Ave., and outside on the campus quad.

Tesia Kolodziejczyk has a lot on her plate as a senior at Pine Creek High school. Among them are her responsibilities as Colorado DECA state vice president, including raising at least $1,700 for a nonprofit aimed at helping children in Ethiopia. To reach her goal, Kolodziejczyk organized a movie night for Saturday, complete with a concession stand. The idea was to put together an evening to Pine Creek students that cost less than going to a regular movie while benefiting Project Mercy.
