ALHAMBRA -- A tree-sitting activist arrested Wednesday for tresspassing appeared in Alhambra Superior Court Friday on a bench warrant for failure to appear, officials said. Travis Jochimsen, 28, is accused of using slugs in a payphone, a source close to the case said. He was held by sheriff's deputies in Temple City even as his cohorts, John Quigley, Julia Posin and Andrea Bowers were released on their own recognizance, according to court documents.

An Allegheny County judge granted bail today to a politically connected friend of Pittsburgh Mayor Luke Ravenstahl who was jailed on a bench warrant. Jeffrey Dzamko, 34, of the North Side has been in the county jail since he was arrested Friday for failing to appear in court in 2008 on charges of writing bad checks.
