A suspicious powder and threatening letter were discovered Tuesday at the home of Westinghouse Savannah River Co. President Bob Pedde, one day after he announced the layoffs of 400 people at Savannah River Site. A second suspicious letter was found a few hours later at the home of Lawrence J. Simmons, a director at Bechtel Savannah River Inc., authorities said.
