BEAVERCREEK TWP., Greene County -- One of Ohio's first joint firehouse staffing agreements will end in February, three years after it began, because a township trustee says the partnership is too costly to continue and neither of the departments' unions can agree on staffing standards.
Trustee Bob Glaser spearheaded a 2-1 vote in September to end the agreement that jointly staffs Fairborn's newest station at 2200 Commerce Center Blvd. He said it has cost Beavercreek taxpayers more than $1.5 million in the past three years that could be better spent elsewhere.

BEAVERCREEK -- Superintendent Denny Morrison knows residential development in the city and township is inevitable. He also realizes he can't slow enrollment in his already overcrowded district.
So he wants to talk with developers, City Council members and township trustees to devise a plan that he hopes will lessen the district's building and financial strains from increased enrollment. He also wants the city and township to ease the tax burden on residents, who comprise 70 percent of the district's property base, by bringing more businesses to the area, he said.
