UTSA Roadrunners will open the month of March with the Baseball Express Collegiate Baseball Classic at Wolff Stadium on March 10-13. Included in this tourney are Louisiana-Lafayette, Texas A&M, Notre Dame and a pair of Big Ten Conference members in Iowa and Illinois. The Runners and Aggies will match up on March 12 at 3 p.m. Later in March, the Runners begin defense of their SLC title when they visit Lamar for a three-game series on March 17-19. UTSA returns home for two SLC series against Northwestern State and McNeese State, with a couple of non-conference game against Texas-Pan American. Justin Gartner knew he had to do something. There had to be a gesture that could somehow express what the Ramapo baseball players were feeling Saturday morning as they prepared for their Bergen County tournament game against Ridgewood.
The word had gotten around that John McKiernan, a beloved fixture at Ramapo sporting events for almost 20 years, died late Friday at the age of 90. Every athlete and parent at Ramapo knew McKiernan, who was honored a few years ago by the athletic department with a plaque on the wall outside the school gym.
