The New York State Board of Law Examiners has concluded grading the July 2006 bar examination held July 25 and 26. The board examined 10,448 candidates for admission to the bar, the most ever examined, according to a release from the board.

Grading for the July bar examination, taken by 11,182 candidates, has been completed by the New York State Board of Law Examiners. Graduates of law schools accredited by the American Bar Association who took the bar examination for the first time achieved a passing rate of 86.1 percent, an increase of 0.5 percent from the passing rate achieved by the same group last year.

Results of July's New York state bar examination are available online at the New York State Board of Law Examiners website, www.nybarexam.org. The results were released a little early after some were briefly available for public view Friday as the Web page was being prepared. Board Executive Director John McAlary said the board doesn't publish a date when results will be released and had planned to release them Tuesday for July's 11,557 candidates. After parts of the results were revealed Friday, the board decided to release all results before the weekend.
