Filmmaker Peter Greenaway made a big impression with his 1989 film The Cook, the Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover, which received international acclaim and a fistful of awards -- as well as controversy due to scenes of torture, nudity, gluttony, and cannibalism -- all in the name of love. Greenaway's previous films include A Zed & Two Noughts (1985), Drowning by Numbers (1988), and Prospero's Books (1991). Born in Wales and educated in London, Greenaway initially studied painting and then turned to filmmaking in 1966. He has written about film and the arts and served as curator for a variety of exhibitions. AMSTERDAM - "Night Watch," one of Rembrandt's most famous paintings, was part of a series of portraits by leading Dutch artists of his day and was meant to be displayed alongside the others, the Netherlands National Museum concluded. The Museum published the findings of a study it commissioned on the background of the large painting - 14.3 by 11.9 feet - including matching the known names of the people portrayed with their faces for the first time.
