A gunman took bank deposit bags from two unarmed Allegheny General Hospital security guards during a holdup Tuesday morning near the North Side hospital.
The guards were walking to a First National Bank branch in an adjacent building on North Avenue when they were approached by the robber about 8:30 a.m., Pittsburgh police said. The guards handed the gunman the deposit bags. No one was injured, police said.

LONG BEACH - A strong-arm bank robber suspected of snatching bank deposit bags from customers at the Bixby Knolls branch of Bank of America appears to have struck again, police said Wednesday.
Authorities, however, are working to avoid a third incident, said Nancy Pratt, a Long Beach Police Department spokeswoman.

An employee of Eat'n Park in Hempfield fought off a man who pepper sprayed him and tried to take bank deposit bags he was depositing late Saturday, state police said.

A north Columbia convenience store worker was robbed at knifepoint yesterday as he was taking receipts to deposit at a bank, police said.
At about 11:45 a.m. yesterday, police said, a man approached a Casey's General Store employee as the 23-year-old was leaving the store at 2520 Range Line St. with bank deposit bags. The robber took the bags containing an undisclosed amount and left on foot, police said. He was last seen running east toward a wooded area.

We like to plan our errands carefully these days, what with the see-sawing price of gas -- mostly upward. Yesterday I had a long list of places to go in order of the distance from our home. First was a stop at the bank to make a deposit.
The next stop was to our nearest gas station where I had hoped to also purchase a bag of mulch along with a fill-up of precious gasoline. Instead of mulch, all they had were large bags of salt so I drove on to Millersburg where I knew mulch (and gas) would be available.
