They're not really trying to celebrate the death of the police officer; they' re really trying to make a statement about the black dude that they hung in jail. They're trying to tell us something. What they're trying to say is they're going to stop it. They don't like us and they fear us. I believe the gang-bangers are looking at them and saying 'it don't matter what they say. You do us and it's going to happen to you.'
"It's a tragedy," [Willie] said. "But, just because he's a police officer don't make him a hero. Just because he was killed in the line of duty doesn't make him a hero. That's his job. He got killed doing his job. That's a tragedy, but everyday someone is getting killed out there by the police.

Kudos to Jean Cherni for her excellent Senior Moments column concerning the Muslim cultural center proposed for a site in lower Manhattan, near ground zero. She points out it is extremely ironic and tragic that the Sept. 11 attacks that at the time brought us together are now being cynically exploited to drive us apart for narrow political ends. President Barack Obama was correct to focus attention on the fight for religious freedom that was instrumental in beginning this country. In fact, it is the very first right stated in the Bill of Rights.
Implicit in religious freedom is religious tolerance. The freedom of each American to practice his or her own religion carries with it tolerance of other Americans practicing their religions.

SafetyTats are temporary colorful tattoos for children on which a parent or caretaker can write a cell phone or emergency phone number, perfect for summer travel or outings to amusement parks, zoos, museums or beaches, where a kid can easily get lost in the crowd.
The good: The SafetyTats are much like adhesive bandages. They're made with a proprietary material that, like a bandage, is peeled and sticks to the skin (after you clean the area with a wipe that is provided).

A new high-performance bandage made from the same blood-stopping technology the U.S. Army uses to save lives on the battlefields of Afghanistan and Iraq is now available to the public.
When in direct contact with blood and pressure is applied, the KytoStat Bandage does what traditional bandages do not -- stops stubborn bleeding while sealing and protecting the wound.

Q: I am a preschool teacher and have to wash my hands dozens of times a day in the attempt to avoid colds and flu. I am suffering the worst case of dried-out winter skin I can remember, with deep, painful cracks around my fingernails.
I've tried everything under the sun, from Eucerin and Corn Huskers Lotion to Aveeno and Aquaphor. My hands are still a mess, and the cracks make it hard to type or fasten buttons. Help!
