The corruption scandal involving New Haven bail bondsmen, court officials and police triggered a renewed legislative push Monday for tougher state supervision and control over the industry. State Rep. Michael P. Lawlor, D-East Haven, said judges and prosecutors have lost faith in the bail bond process and "the system is beginning to spin out of control.

The Colorado Division of Insurance has fined International Fidelity Insurance Company $442,000 for violations of Colorado's bail bond statutes. The fine is a result of a sweeping statewide investigation of bail bonds insurers.
