We escaped another snowstorm with a cruise on the Norwegian GEM from New York heading to Port Canaveral, Nassau and the Bahamas. Once in Port Canaveral, we rented a car and enjoyed the last half of a Mets spring training game. In Nassau, we shopped in town at the Straw Market and then took a ferry over to The Atlantis.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- A 54-year-old passenger vanished as a ship returned from a five-day cruise to the Bahamas, and a daylong ocean search turned up no sign of him. The hunt was called off Friday.
Glen Sherridan was reported missing by his wife a day earlier, after the Carnival Cruise Line ship Celebration docked in Jacksonville.

Carnival Cruise Lines has agreed to a five-year extension with the Port of Baltimore to run cruises from the port year round. The agreement announced Monday is effective Aug. 31, after the present two-year contract expires.
The first two years of the agreement are guaranteed, and there are three one-year options. Carnival's weekly cruise lasts for seven days, sailing to the Bahamas and Caribbean.
