ALEXANDRIA, Va., May 9 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The American Trucking Associations (ATA) today revised upward the trucking industry's 2006 fuel costs; projecting motor carriers will spend $98.3 billion on fuel in 2006.
The revised estimate follows the release today by the Energy Information Administration of an adjustment in its 2006 forecast of the national annual average price of diesel from $2.59 per gallon to $2.70.

The average U.S. pump price for regular gasoline rose 6.5 cents to a seven-week high of $2.934 a gallon, as motorists filled their tanks for the Independence Day holiday weekend, a government report showed.
The average price of diesel rose 3.1 cents to $2.898 a gallon, according to the U.S. Energy Department's survey of about 800 filling stations. The report covered the week ended Monday.
