Hospitality" is one of those abstract terms like "love." Everyone can look up the definition of the word, but the experience of the word is unique to each person and can occur in a variety of ways.
The best description of what I believe to be "genuine hospitality" comes from Pope Benedict XVI. He once wrote, "Each one of us is the fruit of a thought of God. Each one of us is wanted, each one is loved, each one is necessary." To make others feel "wanted," "loved" and "necessary" - that is authentic hospitality.
