After suffering sexual and physical abuse at the hands of his father, John Trentalange grew up to be an adult determined to help people.

Although the language of mechanic's lien statutes varies from state to state, it has almost universally been held that only materials directly annexed/attached to the physical structure qualify as items eligible to be included in a mechanic's lien filing. US Bankruptcy Judge Ross Krumm ruled the mechanic's liens of two companies filed against a hotel developer that included such removable items as furniture, electronics and wiring were valid under what could be construed by some as vague or indirect Virginia statutes. Even so, even where applicable, those who can take advantage of any change in mechanic's lien considerations could be small in number compared to other, traditional lien players.

Professionals who work with and study bonding and attachment say a child's first, eighteen to thirty-six months are of vital importance. This is when an infant is loved, nurtured and bonds with his parents or guardians. The child's needs are met when he cries or fusses by the parent giving the child feed back with eye contact, speech, warmth and/ or feeding. When the parent responds positively, the child bonds and feels safe and secure. But when a small child or baby doesn't get needs met consistently, that child feels helpless and angry and doesn't develop trust.
If you suspect your child has Reactive Attachment Disorder, have him evaluated by a licensed therapist who works with this condition, and not assume your child has RAD. Too often Reactive Attachment Disorder is misdiagnosed as...

The current study explored the role of early family environment and adult attachment style in explaining long-term outcomes among child abuse survivors. Adult patients (N = 80) in a trauma treatment program were assessed for clinical diagnosis and administered a multiscale questionnaire. Hierarchical regression analyses were significant for dissociative identity disorder (DID), substance abuse, anxiety disorder, posttraumatic stress, somatization, and six personality disorder dimensions. Adult attachment styles were significant predictors of most outcome variables. Of particular note was the strong contribution of attachment avoidance to DID. Five family environment scales (Independence, Organization, Control, Conflict, Expressiveness) also contributed to various psychopathological outc...

[MAURA CAMPBELL] notes that Rosalee's transgression defines each character's role in an institutional structure, but the real work of rehabilitating - or simply restraining - her forces them to forge real interpersonal connections. "We all know that there has to be a certain rigidity, or an organization can't function," Campbell says. "That is what we see in the story, how that inflexibility is so damaging. If people don't find ways to bend these rules, the people break.
Fighting for the kid at the center of this play entails a fair amount of fighting w/fh her. As Rosalee discloses, she's a complicated individual with a knack for complicating others' lives - one who's been diagnosed with pathological aggression, borderline personality disorder, attachment disorder and attention deficit...

As a psychologist, I am a member of what is called the "helping professions." The term is generally accurate -- most of us are helpful, most of the time. Nonetheless, it conceals the fact that when all is said and done, mental-health care is a business. As such, entrepreneurial mental-health professionals are no different than other business people: they try to create new "products" and new markets. An example is the relatively new field of "adoption specialist." The not-so-implicit message behind this specialty: Adoption is a special circumstance fraught with psychological IEDs that cannot be negotiated properly without a constant vigilance; thus, the need for a specially trained professional to guide one through the adoption minefield.
I recently spoke with the parents of a 3-year-old...
