After suffering sexual and physical abuse at the hands of his father, John Trentalange grew up to be an adult determined to help people. He's helped the homeless, runaways and abused children, and found his niche as an attachment therapist who tries to repair and strengthen the parent-child bond. Several families in Colorado Springs say he's changed their kids for the better.

The current study explored the role of early family environment and adult attachment style in explaining long-term outcomes among child abuse survivors. Adult patients (N = 80) in a trauma treatment program were assessed for clinical diagnosis and administered a multiscale questionnaire. Hierarchical regression analyses were significant for dissociative identity disorder (DID), substance abuse, anxiety disorder, posttraumatic stress, somatization, and six personality disorder dimensions. Two Clark County lawmakers are miffed after Gov. Chris Gregoire vetoed funding for their projects as part of a $15 million trim in state spending for the year ending June 30, 2009.
