BANGOR A policemans head bobbed ever so slightly to the beat vibrating in his chest, and through each person in the audience. Sunlight crept up and away as hip-hop group Atmosphere took the stage on the Bangor Waterfront for the KahBang Festival on Friday evening. MC Slug had the crowd jumping and swaying their arms overhead with his clever rhymes and the melodies of a live band. Atmosphere was followed by headliners Grace Potter and the Nocturnals and Lupe Fiasco, all three bringing a unique flavor of music to KahBangs main stage.
Band establishes skills for life As a student in the band program for five years, its upsetting to hear that there are school district proposals for pulling the plug. Band isnt just an atmosphere that teaches children how to play a musical instrument. As a person who experienced band firsthand, Ive seen the various benefits of the program. Its an environment where you learn teamwork, coordination, memorization, and so much more. You make friends for life and learn how to work together with not just your section, but the rest of the band.
Under clear skies and mild temperatures, the Bartlett Community Concert Band performed May 16 at Davies Plantation, entertaining the crowd for the Davies Manor and Davies Plantation Homeowners Association Family Picnic. Dr. Rhendle Millen conducted the band throughout the day as guests enjoyed a delicious spread of food while mingling with neighbors.
You can't really bring your young children to a KISS concert. The Imagination Movers -- who are coming to the Benedum Center on Wednesday with their "In a Big Warehouse" Tour -- say that they give the perfect family concert, with the energy and excitement of an adult show, but with clean music and a family-friendly atmosphere. The band even created its own version of the KISS classic "Rock and Roll All Nite," with the kid-oriented "Rock and Roll All Day and Sleep Every Night.
Alongside a variety of 50 different cigars, David Andrea offers customers a few brands of specialty cigarettes. But he is considering taking the cigarettes off his shelves.
Band members walked two blocks to the National D-Day Museum. By the time students rode across town to put on uniforms for the Sugar Bowl, the pre-game party was under way, and downtown New Orleans streets were the site. Vehicle traffic was heavy, and gaggles of red-shirted Sooner fans and gold-and-purple Tiger fans were moving faster than the buses. Clusters of police officers were on corners as football fans carrying open beers and mixed drinks walked past them.
