WHITTIER - Nearly three months after the Wednesday Night Family Fair was canceled, officials from the event producer and its sponsor were in court arguing over their former contract. The Whittier Uptown Association sued the Monrovia-based Family Festival Production in Whittier Small Claims Court for $5,000 that it says the company didn't pay it for the last five weeks of the event.

PORTLAND - The Maine Island Trail Association is again bringing the Paddlers Film Festival to Maine in partnership with the Northern Forest Canoe Trail. The doors open at 5 p.m. April 28, at the Eastland Hotel. This year MITA will also have a silent auction during the event with a selection of great outdoor gear, art and adventures.

The grass outside may still be muddy brown, but the Badgerland Bluegrass Music Association is still ready to celebrate with its "Big Thaw," a daylong festival set for April 4 at the Unitarian Church North, 13800 N. Port Washington Road, Mequon. This year's event will feature eight acts: Red Star Express, Big Cedar, the Roller Mills String Band, Colin O'Brien, Pickin' Up Speed, the Seth Foerster Unit, Northern Trail and the Cream City Bluegrass Band.
