Lots of University of Evansville alums like to informally refer to the university theater department's professional network of theater graduates as "the UE mafia." It's not hard to see why, with its growing influence in New York and Los Angeles, where steadily increasing numbers of alums working in theater, film, television and theater education gather each year to renew connections and welcome new members into the family.
The Purple Gang is all over the nation, however, including Actors Theatre of Louisville, Ky., where Amy Attaway, a 2001 UE graduate, is in her third year as associate director for the Acting Apprentice Company.

We live in a fast-paced world, where we don't always smell the roses, let alone read the ingredients in the products we use. As a result, we subject ourselves and our families every day to toxins and harmful chemicals - in air fresheners and shampoo, in vinyl shower curtains and the Teflon we cook with, even in the buses our kids take to school.
In many cases, especially in the case of parents with young children, people are not aware of some of the common environmental toxins that are part of their daily environment," said Doug Wood, associate director of Grassroots Environmental Education. "Our mission is to educate the public about the links between environmental toxins and human health - and specifically put into the hands of activists tools that they can use in their own communiti...

"Then my senior year at Skyline High School (1974), we actually had a league. ... It was such a wonderful opportunity and it opened doors in college for me.
