This Notice provides guidelines that describe the application process for grants and the criteria for awarding grants in the fiscal year (FY) 2011 Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program year. It explains the differences, if any, between these guidelines and those recommended by representatives of the Nation's fire service leadership during the annual Criteria Development meeting, which was held October 6-7, 2010. ELLSWORTH - The Ellsworth Fire Department has received a $97,727 grant from the federal Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program. The grant is part of more than $368,000 in funds awarded recently through the grant program by the Department of Homeland Security. Grants also were awarded to the Naples Fire Department, $47,842, and the Bridgewater Fire Department, $32,471.

S. Senator Russ Feingold announced today that the Jamestown Fire Department received a 2006 Assistance to Firefighters Grant of $19,760. Rep. Louise Slaughter of Fairport has announced two grants from the federal government that will benefit Western New York fire companies. The Rochester Fire Department is set to receive more than $252,000 from the Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program for equipment and training activities and the Youngstown Fire Department, $91,756 from the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response grant program which assists departments in hiring additional firefighting personnel.
