FORT WORTH, Texas - After losing its latest bid for nonstop service to China, American Airlines is increasingly turning to its partnerships with foreign carriers to fuel its expansion into Asia.
Fort Worth-based American is improving its facilities at Tokyo's Narita Airport to increase the opportunity to connect passengers with flights on Japan Airlines, one of American's alliance partners. American is also adding room and more luxurious amenities to its first-class lounge as it works to attract well-heeled international business travelers.

Afghanistan has huge geopolitical/geostrategic importance. It is wedged between perhaps the two most influential powers in the Middle East (Iran and Pakistan); shares a porous border with what many would call the most radicalized state on the planet (Pakistan); and it neighbors several unstable, largely Islamic populations in the newly independent central Asian republics, some of which are important American partners if not exactly allies.
Recently, President Obama decided to stay the course and ordered an additional 21,000 military forces to the country. I applaud him for this decision and for recognizing that the situation in Afghanistan affects not only America, but the whole world.

This paper discusses the increasing diversity in the accounting profession. Evidence is presented substantiating that over one third of recent accounting graduates are from ethnic minority backgrounds, the majority of whom are Asian/Pacific Islanders. In our university specific data, we find an even higher percentage (71%) of ethnic minorities receiving accounting degrees, with Asian/Pacific Islanders as the majority group. We also show that over one fourth of new accounting graduates hired by accounting firms are ethnic minorities of which fifty percent are Asian/Pacific Islanders. However, a recent survey by the AICPA indicates that only 4% of partners in accounting firms are ethnic minorities, again half of whom are Asian/Pacific Islanders. Due to the predominance of this ethnic grou...

WASHINGTON, Dec. 5 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Following is a transcript of remarks by President Bush today at John Deere-Hitachi Construction Machinery Corp. (4 of 4): The government's current pension rules are confusing and misleading -- they allow companies to technically play by the rules and yet still not fund the promises they've made to their employees. And so Congress needs to straighten up these rules so that there's no confusion, so that everybody understands what I just said. I said, if you make a promise to a worker, you put enough money in the account to fulfill that promise. So we proposed reforms to the pension rules that say this, that say that companies must accurately measure and report the financial status of their pension plans to make sure they're fulfilling the promise...
