ASHLAND, Ore. -- Electric all-terrain vehicles may not impress the dune- and trail-riding crowd that rides for recreation, but a few small companies expect organic farmers and vineyard growers will pay a premium to gather cattle and spray vines without the carbon footprint of a gas vehicle.
While automakers are toiling to produce electric cars that will fit the demands of American drivers, Ashland-based Barefoot Motors is on the verge of turning out heavy-duty ATVs that can go 50 miles on a charge costing about 90 cents.

In The Comedy of Errors, country bumpkins (Ray Porter and Christopher DuVal) travel to Las Vegas, where they hope to locate their long-lost twin brothers (also played by Porter and DuVal). The city of sin is a nightmare of neon, and the two wander through like Texas-talkin' Leopold Blooms. Mafia hit men (including a sublime Mark Murphey) first intimidate, and then listen with childlike awe, as the two tell of their search for their lost-at-sea families. Later, sexy nightclub singer Charisse Loriaux seduces them with Tony Bennett ballads as near-nude dancers writhe and slots throw out silver like the Comstock Lode. Shakespeare's tale doesn't get lost here; the twins do find each other--how could they not, since they are each other--and the glitz adds new polish. But the final scene is a ...

Once Janet Burke made up her mind, she succeeded -- whether it dealt with raising five sons or working as a do-everything newspaper editor at a time when such jobs were the province of men.
She always was on top of things. She was always very involved in our lives when we were growing up," said son Kevin Burke of Los Angeles.
