Nobody will ever accuse Karen Wassmer of being a wasteful sort. The pieces of art festooned on the walls of her North Cherry Street home and that fill her studio out back are made of a little bit of everything.
Some of the materials are natural - driftwood and parts of tree stumps - while other components of her creations are the detritus of our consumer culture: discarded Barbie dolls, old turkey roasting pans and ceramic pots. But when combined together by the imaginative 47-year-old former civil engineer, the results are arresting, eclectic images.
