MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Arthur Lee, singer and songwriter for the 1960s psychedelic band Love, died Thursday after a battle with leukemia, according to Methodist University Hospital. He was 61. The band's most well-known album, Forever Changes, released in 1968, is considered a classic of the '60s rock era.
WENATCHEE - Arthur Lee Ludwick Jr. died peacefully in the early morning hours of February 24, 2008. He was mentally sharp and a good sport to the very end. Affectionately known as "Lud", he was born November 15, 1913, in Kansas City, Missouri, the only child of Dr. Arthur L. Ludwick, Sr., and Margaret Jane Gallaher Ludwick. Early grade schooling was in different states while his father served as a medical officer (psychiatrist, treating "shell-shocked" aviators) in the Army during the First World War. This past week dogs that were on the very short list at Stray Hearts Animal Shelter were given a second chance (even a second/ third chance) for life. Arthur and Lee were adopted and Clark was placed in a foster home. Whew!

VIRGINIA BEACH - Arthur Lee "Art" DeMott, 88, formerly of Virginia Beach, died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at his Port Charlotte residence. Born May 13, 1921 in Detroit, Arthur was in the Philippines when Pearl Harbor was attacked - making his historic squadron the first aviators to engage the Japanese after the U.S. declared war. Against overwhelming odds they lost 16 out of 24 planes in the first 10 days of battle. Later in the war, Art's plane was shot down near a South Pacific island and the crew had to keep their rubber boat away from enemy rifle fire until picked up by a British seaplane that took them to Australia, where Art put on an Australian uniform, climbed into an R.A.A.F. airplane, and went right back into the air to fight.
