  • Waukesha -- The 15-year-old boy who started a fire Feb. 5 that caused nearly $3 million damage at the Burlington Coat Factory store in Brookfield received a five-year sentence Monday in Juvenile Court. The Milwaukee youth was placed in the serious juvenile offender program by Waukesha County Circuit Judge Patrick C. Haughney.

  • ELLSWORTH - A Southwest Harbor man who forced the evacuation of his apartment building when he intentionally started a fire in his home was sentenced Friday in Hancock County Superior Court to serve seven years in prison. Brian W. Polley, 36, pleaded guilty last week to a single count of arson in connection with the fire last fall at East Ridge Apartments. Polley piled up his clothing in a room of his apartment on Oct. 22 and set the pile on fire, according to investigators.

Nicholas Gibbs, 29, of the residence was arrested on suspicion of arson, said Sgt. Jill Wieneke of the Columbia Police Department.
