YAKIMA -- A 52-year-old woman was arrested Thursday after she caused two car crashes moments apart from each other and possibly on purpose, Yakima police said. The first crash happened about 3 p.m. at the corner of 12th Avenue and Nob Hill Boulevard, followed shortly by a second crash at the intersection of 11th and Mead avenues.
Nine men were arrested Thursday in a police sting to expose sellers of fraudulent government documents known to work in El Monte's Five Points area. Of those, an employee from 1 Hour Photo 4 Less was arrested for allegedly helping to produce the false records which included driver licenses, green cards, Social Security cards and other certificates.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a Thursday night stabbing that sent a man to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Matthew James Ray, 46, is in jail after being named by his victim, Douglas Traxler. Police found Traxler Thursday about 8 p.m. bleeding profusely from a knife wound in his abdominal area about 15 inches long, according to a police report. Traxler was found in a detached garage at a home near Fillmore Street and Nevada Avenue. Traxler was taken into emergency surgery at Penrose Hospital and was recovering as of Friday morning.
BANGOR A Fourth Street man with a long and violent criminal history including a May 5 arrest for assaulting a Bangor police officer was arrested Thursday and charged with murder in the June 9 death of local resident Melvin F. Abreu, 28. William L. Hall, 29, told police last week that he strangled Abreu and then threw him out of his second story window at 96 Fourth St., according to court documents.
COVINA - A former police records supervisor was arrested Thursday on suspicion of stealing $342,000 in city funds that came from parking meters, parking fines and impound fees. Louise Vance-Wasilchin, also known as Mary Louise Wasilchin, 58, was arrested in her Upland home after a seven-month investigation that started when authorities were tipped off by finding 1,000 quarters in her car while investigating an accident.
A Putnam County woman accused of refusing to provide medical care for her chronically ill 3-year-old daughter has been charged with neglect resulting in the child's Dec. 29 death. Tracy Lynn Schaible Wright, 28, of Hurricane was arrested Thursday at her Seville Circle apartment.
