REDLANDS - A member of the Redlands Fire Department was arrested for assault after an early morning fight on Monday. Joshua Pete Egan, 32, of Yucaipa, has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the results of an internal investigation, according to Redlands Fire Department Chief Jeff Frazier.
WHITTIER - A 15-year-old girl was arrested for assault Wednesday by Whittier police officers, officials said. Officers responded at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a fight at the Whittier High School track.

A girls basketball and track coach at Bellflower High School has been arrested for sexual assault on a student, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department Special Victims Bureau said Tuesday night. Bryan Shepherd, 47, who officials said "has been known to reside in Torrance" and who has coached at the school for five years, is accused of assaulting a former student over a four-year period.
MONTEREY PARK - A Walnut man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly trying to kill and assault a woman at a business. Robert Y. Lee, 37, was booked on suspicion of attempted murder, kidnapping, attempted rape and assault with a deadly weapon. He is being held at Monterey Park police jail.
NEWS SERVICE REPORTS PITTSBURGH -- A Pitt defensive back who was kicked off the team hours before the Panthers' 31-3 loss to Miami had been arrested the night before for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend after she told him she was pregnant.

An Ohio judge has given Dwayne "Deejay" Hunter a second chance at playing college sports, and Marshall football coach Doc Holliday is going to bet a roster spot that he will take advantage of it. Hunter, a defensive back who once committed to Tennessee and has shown enough speed to contend for Ohio sprint championships, has enrolled at Marshall and is joining the football team. He will enter the program as a walk-on.
