Meet Larry Etchechury, director of the Arizona Industrial Commission, which is responsible for regulating most labor issues in the state, including workers' compensation, employee safety, and most recently, implementing the state's new minimum wage mandated by the passage of Prop. 202. As a U.S. Army sergeant working in the dangerous environment of the Vietnam War, Etchechury specialized in reconnaissance with the 1st Air Cavalry. He later made his journey to Arizona from Bakersfield, Calif., in 1968 to attend Arizona State University.
