  • The average sales price for a home in foreclosure in the New Orleans area was up in 2010 compared with 2009, according to figures released today by RealtyTrac. Foreclosure homes were sold for an average of $135,607 last year, up from $133,923 in 2008 and from $122,055 in 2008. Overall, people who bought foreclosed homes received an average discount of 27.1 percent.

  • Like the homebuilding industry in the Pikes Peak region, the re- sale market is off to a slow start in 2011. Single-family home sales totaled 448 in February, a 21.7 percent drop from the same month last year, according to figures released this week by the Pikes Peak Association of Realtors. February's overall sales were the fewest in any month since 413 sales in January 2009.
