A painkiller and a drug used to treat anxiety are the most popularly prescribed medications in West Virginia's Medicaid program, which covers nearly 400,000 low-income state residents.
In the first three months of the year, 21,478 prescriptions were written for the 5-milligram version and 15,143 were written for the 7.5-milligram of Lortab, according to Medicaid records.
