By Mal Vincent | The Virginian-Pilot It's almost summertime and the popcorn is waiting at local movie theaters. // From pirates to hangovers, the studios will trot out superheroes and sequels this summer. There's plenty for the eyes, but not so much for the brains. Missing, too, will be most A-list stars. Producers are gambling on special effects rather than big names. Anticipation? We're trying to get excited, but it's not easy. Don't expect Oscar nominees to surface during escapist months. // We rate the degree of anticipation with 5 as can't miss it, down to 1 for movies we'd rather skip. We remember Dr. King because he helped to lead a great movement. His armies were committed but unarmed, engaged but dedicated to non-violence. Dr. King's greatness came from his faith, "the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." His faith in the maker gave him immense hope for the better angels of God's creation. A winter storm packing a wallop of wet, heavy snow was making its way north from the Gulf of Mexico and was expected to hit West Virginia Tuesday night. Largest accumulations were expected in the mountainous counties and southern coalfields.
The first was [Martin Mahew]'s trade of wide receiver Roy Williams to Dallas for the Cowboys' No. 1 and No. 3 picks in the 2009 draft. Not only did the move give Detroit an abundance of draft picks, Williams, who was scheduled to be a free agent after the 2008 season, wasn't going to re-sign with Detroit afterwards. In fact, he admitted to being like a kid in a candy store following the trade. Second, the signing of free agent quarterback Duante Culpepper paid dividends. Before Culpepper arrived, opposing defenses stacked eight in the box - meaning they didn't respect the Lions' passing game. Although the Lions continued to lose, wide receiver Calvin Johnson began to make plays and tailback Kevin Smith, without eight in the box, began to fulfill his potential. GEORGIA'S MATTHEW STAFFORD...
Out of all our acquisitions and mergers, Kevin and Tony are by far the most-involved, from a principal's perspective, with staying in touch with their customers," he explained. [...] we considered this critical when we agreed to make this merger. Since last January, the two teams of employee-benefit specialists have essentially become one team, said Marini, with members taking from each other's expertise wh le working together to meet clients' needs and effectively solve their problems.
Taxpayers hoping to borrow against a pending federal income tax refund have far fewer places to get such loans this year. That's good news and bad, experts say.
