A Plymouth man who apparently used a collapsible baton to beat an Old Town man in the head on Wednesday afternoon turned himself in to police on Thursday, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said.
Anthony Barnes, 28, reportedly attacked the 28-year-old victim on Hammond Street in Bangor, near its junction with Ohio Street, and a witness called for help. After hitting the victim in the head with the baton an unknown number of times, Barnes ran off and the victim was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center.

WOOSTER -- In a recent Eagle Scout Court of Honor held at Church of the Cross United Methodist, Andrew James Edward Woodward was presented with his Eagle Scout award, the highest achievement that can be earned in Boy Scouts of America. He is the son of Anthony and Andrea Woodward of Wooster. Presenting the award was Kent Hammond, a committee member with Troop No. 68, of which Woodward is a member.
He has been with Troop No. 68 since 2002 and the Boy Scout Pack since he was in first grade. Woodward was awarded the Arrow of Light while he was in Cub Scouts. He then crossed over into Boy Scouts and has earned 24 merit badges. He is a fifth-year Pipestone holder, a fifth-year Polar Bear holder and is also a Brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow.
