Providing interior materials that are lighter, more cost-effective and efficient to produce are the goals of Polyscope Polymers. The company is banking on its Xiran styrene maleic anhydride (SMA) co-polymers to become commonplace in A-, B- and C-pillar cover, sunroof frame and knee holster structure applications. Polyscope says Xiran is a new grade of engineering plastic that utilizes higher amount of maleic anhydride, which provides improved heat stability and limits deformation. SMA's properties also provide for good direct adhesion of leather and other suit-touch materials.

Its point of departure is the 1970s, when the opium production crisis in Turkey, and its associated corrosion of relations with the US, had been brought to an end. The article concentrates on the period in the late 1980s/early to mid-1990s, when the hard drugs issue became fused with other security threats like terrorism and state corruption. EPA is promulgating significant new use rules (SNURs) under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) for 119 chemical substances which were the subject of premanufacture notices (PMNs). Four of these chemical substances are subject to TSCA consent orders issued by EPA. This action requires persons who intend to manufacture, import, or process any of these 119 chemical substances for an activity that is designated as a significant new use by this rule to notify EPA at least 90 days before commencing that activity. The required notification will provide EPA with the opportunity to evaluate the intended use and, if necessary, to prohibit or limit that activity before it occurs.
