Air Force Airman Lanny P. Thompson graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio earning four credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force. A 2008 graduate of Schenck High School in East Millinocket, he is the son of Royce Thompson and Marcia Berube, both of Millinocket.
Army Pfc. Andrew S. Welch has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. A 2006 graduate of Mattanawcook Academy in Lincoln, he is the son of Rebecca Dube of Lincoln and Steven Welch of Westbrook.

The whole controversy began in the breadbasket. On May 24, Iowa Rep. Leonard Boswell, a Democrat, added a short paragraph - Section 123 - to the House Agriculture Livestock, Dairy and Poultry Subcommittee's portion of the farm bill. The section would bar states, counties and towns from making laws prohibiting the "use" of a commodity that the Secretary of Agriculture has either "inspected and passed" or "determined to be of non-regulated status." Reached by telephone, a Boswell spokesperson told Seven Days that the representative had no specific motivation for introducing the legislation.

VIRGINIA BEACH - , 81, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ Oct. 17, 2010. Mrs. Clark was born Jan. 11, 1929, the daughter of the late Oral Eugene Rickard and Goldie Grimm Rickard. She served as a Realtor for 33 years with Century 21, Goodman Segar Hogan Hoffler and was actively engaged with Long & Foster. She was a member of Rock Church. Her life was exemplified by service to her family, church, community and friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed.
