  • 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith' Just when did the presumed romance between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie begin? When he put a bullet through her windshield? When she tried to snuff him by crashing his elevator? The hit action comedy stars the couple in a tired marriage who learn it's all a sham - that they're actually rival assassins whose next target is each other. The DVD offers some deleted and extended sequences, especially those featuring co-star Vince Vaughn. Commentary tracks feature director Doug Liman, the screenwriters and technical crew, while the DVD has a making-of featurette. DVD, $29.98. (20th Century Fox)

  • LOS ANGELES - Off-screen couple or not, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had enough on-screen chemistry to lift their assassin tale "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" to a robust $51 million opening weekend. The other new wide releases, "The Honeymooners," "The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D" and "High Tension," opened weakly, contributing to Hollywood's 16th-straight weekend of declining revenues compared to last year, according to studio estimates Sunday.

  • When one regards the controversy surrounding Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's rumored love affair, it is amazing to think that it all could have been avoided. The two Hollywood superstars, who met on the set of "Mr. & Mrs. Smith," have lately been the subject of intense scrutiny from tabloids across the world, a problem only compounded by Pitt's separation from Jennifer Aniston. However, had things gone according to "Smith" director Doug Liman's original plans, Pitt and Jolie would not be the media targets they are now; in fact, they may never have even met.

  • In stores SALT (2010, Sony, PG-13, $29) -- Props to Angelina Jolie for being so believable as a butt-kicking warrior. In a role that echoes her explosive turns in "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" and "Wanted," the actress comes out blazing as a CIA agent who's accused of being a sleeper spy by a Russian defector. With the clock ticking, Salt must clear her name, avert an assassination and outrun the bad -- and good -- guys. Overflowing with old-school chases and whiplash double crosses, "Salt" won't earn any points for originality but it sure as hell gets the job done. Extras: three versions of the film, commentary by director Phillip Noyce and two featurettes.

  • Blood Simple" was an homage to Hitchcock suspense films. "Raising Arizona" was a slapstick comedy. "Miller's Crossing" was a great gangster film. "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" was a modern Greek classic. "Intolerable Cruelty" was a romantic comedy. "The Man Who Wasn't There" was a black-and-white look at film noir. "Fargo" was an award-winning crime drama. "No Country for Old Men" was an Oscar-honored neo-noir thriller. The Coen Brothers have assembled a great cast here. In addition to Pitt ("Mr. And Mrs. Smith") and [George Clooney] ("Good Night, and Good Luck"), you'll encounter John Malkovich ("Being John Malkovich"), Tilda Swinton ("Michael Clayton"), and Frances McDormand ("Fargo"). All of them are either Oscar winners or nominees. "George loves to play idiots for us," Ethan Coen el...
